The Green Shop Organic RHM

The Green Shop Organic, located within the Royal Melbourne Hospital blends a fresh colour palette of raw & natural materials combined with garden elements.

In response to the brief, the choice of natural stained birch ply and pine lining boards were chosen, a green wall to help soften the windowless space, low sheen hard surfaces such as matte white wall tiles & timber look floor tiles and finally a central steel cage structure to allow an artificial creeper to grow through, whilst suspended over head.

The design had to factor in stringent health department guidelines to ensure food preparation and serving areas remain free of contaminates, all whilst liaising closely with both hospital building management and the council health department to ensure works would be approved.

The project’s delivery presented the client with a bright, fresh feeling space inspired by and reflecting garden elements, presenting visitors to the store with an instant organic appeal.
